Olympic bobsledder Joel Fearon will compete for Switzerland at the 2019-20 World Cup year following the Great Britain team agreed to release him on aloan bargain.
Fearon was part of Team GBs four-man Sochi 2014 team who were awarded bronze following the disqualification of two sleds for doping offences.
At World Championship events and World Cup, unlike at the Olympics, sledders can compete.
The 30-year-old – an 100m runner, who is joint fourth on the British record – will compete at World Championship events and the World Cup for Switzerland .
GB Bobsleigh received over #5m from the build-up to Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in 2018 but UK Sport removed all financing once they failed to challenge for a medal in those Games.
Fearon has since become a dad for the third time and, as he received no funding from UK Sport, the former athlete sees the temporary compensated transfer as the sole approach.
Joel came with a petition to slip for among those Swiss pilots this season after he had been made an offer which we, as a now unfunded game, were unable to match, said new British Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association seat Joanna Poulton.
The return of Olympian Greg Cackett, that has spent the past 18 months together with British Cycling has encouraged the GB team.
Former bobsledder Sam Blanchet, who had been a reserve for Pyeongchang 2018, will compete into his previous sport of rugby union back at the coming year.
